Ebook About Sometimes the best man is the one you least expect… Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she's ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family's vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there's some great scenery there….Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief—and best friend of her former fiancé. There's a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it's not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she's having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago.If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosé, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk down the aisle.Book The Best Man Review :
I've been a Kristen Higgins fan since I bought my first book because I liked the cover, and The Best Man doesn't disappoint. Maybe it's because the storyline is compelling, maybe I just like to visualize a hot guy who figured stuff out by the end, maybe it's the dog. All I know is, when I read a book by Higgans, I know the dialogue is going to be witty and hilarious, the visuals are going to transport me, and the story is going to give me feels. And I know it doesn't matter to everyone, but she gets the little details right, like how an EMT will approach an accident scene. I don't have to worry about suspension of disbelief, because she takes care of it in her writing and editing. I'm a bit of a grammar nerd, and I've got to tell you, I never have to do rewrites in my head when I read Higgins. Little things like that make every one of her books a five star. I've read The Best Man at least five times, and it never gets old. Enjoy the read. After just finishing a book that was so violent and so riddled with profanities and graphic descriptions of brutality, I was looking forward to something much more lighthearted. I previously read Just One of the Guys by this author and wasn’t impressed, but I bought this book at the same time so I decided to give it a try.Man, this novel was leaps and bounds above Just One of the Guys. For one thing, I love how sassy Faith is, and Levi is a smoldering pain in the butt (which I tend to gravitate toward the book boyfriends that start out prickly and slowly get broken down by the heroine). The characters have great chemistry, even if Levi’s early inner dialogue focused a bit too much on Faith’s boobs at points. There are so many great characters in the town, including Faith’s grandparents, her widowed dad, her two sisters and brother, her best friend Colleen, and others. I found myself chuckling at multiple points because of the banter between various characters. This novel had everything I love. There’s humor, enough angst to make scenarios believable/make you root for the characters (but not enough to be depressing), loving family, and a palpable friction/chemistry between Levi and Faith. To that point, there’s no graphic sex scenes (there’s plenty of discussion and allusion to and the starts of things), but I found all the connections to be satisfying. I felt like the story was predominately clean, but with an edge (not all syrupy sweet, if that makes sense). I also really liked the scenes where Levi and Faith were fighting, strangely enough, because it showed the progression of their relationship and passion.I plan to check out other novels in this series, and I hope they are just as great.
